The general director of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC), Douglas Rico, assured that sports are an effective tool to combat addiction to wireless cellular devices that affect the mental health of children and adolescents.
During the broadcast of the program “Cicpc al Día” that is broadcast on Radio Multimedia of the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations Justice and Peace (MPPRIJP), Rico recommended that parents and representatives involve their daughters and sons in sports activities, so that infants can fall asleep when they return home, which will avoid the addiction to the internet and social networks that so affect the new generations of the country.
He emphasized that it is important to find ways for our children to play sports, just like teenagers, “so that our boys can use leisure in some physical activity.”
In this regard, the Commissioner General suggested that both extreme sports and swimming, athletics and skating are physical activities that will greatly contribute to the mental health of girls, boys and young people.
Rico stated that the “Life Skills” program is a preventive strategy of this institution to prevent girls, boys and young people from threatening their physical integrity due to the influence they receive through mobile phones, which is a serious situation that occurs both in Venezuela and in other nations of the world.
“When we analyze screens, we see that technology creates an addiction in us because we have to include all of us and that we have to work on, work for the well-being and mental health of our children, our girls, our young people and our adults, including us,” said the highest authority of the Scientific Police.
