The Emergency Operations Center of the Dominican Republic (COE), reported that in the afternoon of this Tuesday, May 7, it increased to 20 provinces and the National District on yellow alert and maintains six in green, because a flood continues to cause a humid and unstable environment, and there are also clouds of great vertical development, generating moderate to heavy downpours.

In this regard, it recommends that people refrain from crossing rivers, streams and glens that present high volumes of water in the provinces under alert.

The provinces on yellow alert are: María Trinidad Sánchez, La Altagracia, Monsignor Nouel, Monte Cristi, San Pedro de Macorís, Santiago Rodríguez, Santo Domingo, San José de Ocoa, Sánchez Ramírez, Monte Plata, Puerto Plata, San Cristóbal, Hato Mayor, Espaillat, La Vega, Santiago, Samaná, El Seibo, Valverde, Duarte and the National District.

As for the provinces on green alert, there are Elías Piña, Dajabón, Hermanas Mirabal, Azúa, La Romana and San Juan.

For its part, the National Meteorological Office (ONAMET), in its account on the social network X, noted that rainfall has become intense in some territories, and has been accompanied by gusts of wind, hailstorms and high volumes of water, turning into urban floods in some regions.

He specified that in the afternoon and night of this Tuesday, “moderate to heavy downpours, thunderclaps and gusts of wind will return in several provinces of the country”, which will affect the regions: “northeast, east, southeast, Cordillera Central and border area”, although effects are not ruled out in other areas of the country.
