“We have to be in solidarity with Haiti, because Haiti hurts us,” said the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, during the new podcast he hosts with Tania Díaz.
“Haiti was in solidarity with Venezuela. Why was (Alexandre) Pétion in solidarity with Venezuela? Because they were in a revolution,” said Cabello and asserted that “a revolution is supportive from the outset.”
In this regard, Tania Díaz emphasized the invasion that Haiti is suffering. In the framework of the camaraderie, he recalled that in Venezuela there is a Haitian community that he described as supportive and defined as “a very beautiful community”.
The Liberator Simon Bolivar received a formal promise from Alexandre Pétion that he would provide him with all kinds of assistance to organize and carry out an expedition against the Costa Firme. For this reason, Bolívar committed himself to the leader of the Caribbean country to proclaim the general freedom of slaves in Venezuela and in all the territories he would liberate.
