The general secretary of the United Socialist
Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, reaffirmed that national
sovereignty is a non-negotiable principle and highlighted the historical legacy
of Grand Marshal Antonio José de Sucre as a reference for the defense of Venezuelan independence.
“He is for us one of
the main figures, guides. It is a beacon (...) with its loyalty and its
strategic sense (...) If Sucre could at that time, today we are obliged
to follow the path of Bolivar, Sucre, Miranda, the path of our Liberators.
Venezuela's sovereignty is not in question. The sovereignty of
Venezuela belongs to Venezuelans,” he said
during a popular mobilization in the state of Sucre.
In that regard, he ratified
that the Bolivarian Revolution will continue to advance in the defense of the country's
independence and sovereignty, while reiterating his commitment to governing together with the People.
“We have to go
where the People are, because the People sometimes, sometimes not, are always
clearer than the leaders, the People know what they have to do (...) there are those who want to scare
us and say no 'they have to go now'. Leave now? When it's our turn,
they will see if the green cambur really stains, in the meantime we don't despair, we
continue to govern together with the People always,” he said.
