The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, stressed on Monday that the National Assembly (AN) will sanction the reform of the country's electoral laws prior to the regional and parliamentary elections of 2025.
“The National Assembly will soon approve these reforms of the laws, urgently, so that they are ready for elections, and we have been announcing that the PSUV and the Great Patriotic Pole are ready. Let them (the extremist opposition) agree,” he said during the usual weekly press conference of the red awning.
He stressed that after the presidential elections of July 28, “there are still sectors that do not recognize the decision of the CNE (National Electoral Council)”, so he questioned “how are they going to register candidates now, I don't know how that is going to be done (...) you cannot be participating in an election and after they lose then you go to the streets to violence and then you want to participate again”, he criticized.
In this regard, he assured that these laws will be approved. “Venezuela is going to have elections next year and let the debate open, that is the best debate for this country, the participation of the people.”
