The first
vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV),
Diosdado Cabello Rondón, praised the loyalty of the patriotic soldiers who accompanied Commander Hugo Chávez in
the civic-military rebellion of February 4, 1992 for a “free, sovereign and independent homeland”.
“33 years later,
my Commander Chávez, here are your soldiers, here are your daughters and sons
saying present, accompanying brother President Nicolás Maduro in the task
of steering the ship of the Bolivarian Revolution,” said Cabello from
Paseo Los Próceres, in Caracas, where the great march arrived to commemorate that historic feat.
He stressed that the
soldiers of February 4th “are in revolution, in good times and in bad.
If it's bad times, the soldiers of February 4th will be there
defending this homeland faster,” he emphasized, celebrating the participation of youth
in the mobilization this Tuesday.
“Many of the
young people we saw at the march were not born, and it's like a lived story
because their grandparents and parents told them what happened here on February 4th 33 years
ago (...) Here in this country we came from 40 years of puntofijist dictatorship,
where the people only had the right to die when the
government wanted, where the people were silenced, where health, education and all services were being privatized.
And the people of Venezuela couldn't stand it
anymore,” said Cabello.
