Diosdado Cabello mourns the death of former Venezuelan soccer player Luis Mendoza

The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, lamented this Friday the physical departure of former Venezuelan midfielder Luis Mendoza “Mendocita”, considered one of the best soccer players in the country, who died at the age of 78.

“Today we woke up with the news of Luis Mendoza's departure (...), I remember that in our time people, who here have more baseball tradition, but everyone who wanted to be a soccer player here in Venezuela said Mendocita with the ball, was an image for the youth of that time,” Cabello said during the usual weekly press conference with the red awning.

He also highlighted “his great behavior as an exemplary citizen” and sent his most heartfelt words of condolence to his families.

Luis Mendoza played for Vinotinto between 1965 and 1979, playing 24 games and scoring 4 goals. In his soccer career, he became the youngest player to debut in the First Division of Venezuela, with the Banco Agrícola y Pecuario team, he was 15 years old at the time.
