The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela,
Diosdado Cabello Ronón, commemorated the birth of Saint José Gregorio Hernández,
162 years after his birth, and sent greetings to the town of Isnotú, Trujillo state
, where activities were held to celebrate the date.
“Today is the 162nd anniversary of the birth of San José Gregorio Hernández. Today, the Trujillo people have activities there in Isnotú, we were talking
with the governor, quite a party for the Venezuelan saint,” he said
during the PSUV press conference.
He also noted that in the parishes of
La Pastora and La Candelaria, in Caracas, there are also plans to celebrate
masses starting at 5:00 in the afternoon, as well as a procession in honor of the canonized Venezuelan doctor.
He reaffirmed the faith that Venezuelans have in the so-called Saint of the Poor. “There is hardly a Venezuelan here who doesn't owe a favor to José Gregorio Hernández, a relative, of friends, personally (...) We call him José Gregorio, because he is our bread, well, a friend of the house, José Gregorio Hernández,” he said.
