During the meeting with international companions, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, assured that Commander Hugo Chávez did not remain in the founding, forerunner generation, but that he transcended beyond.

Cabello Rondón said that today the boys and girls of this country feel Chávez as if he were here with us.

“In Venezuela, there is a before and after since Chávez came to power. I remember that before when a family had a person with disabilities they hid it in their house, they didn't take it out anywhere,” he said.

He said that during the closing ceremony of the campaign he met a boy (Ángel David) whom he helped a few years ago, “I approached him and we talked, he lacks both arms, and very cheerfully he told me that he learned to play instruments and to paint with his feet (...) Chávez brought a droplet of oil to those most in need,” he said.

Cabello said that he has sometimes thought about retiring and going with his granddaughter to rest, but “when I see Ángel David I know that there are many children like him who still need to be cared for and that gives us strength to continue”.

In that regard, he recalled a few words from the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who told him that “revolutionaries don't retire.”
