Diosdado Cabello: Chávez came to give the people a message of hope and sanity

The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, assured that Commander Hugo Chávez arrived “to give the people a message of hope and sanity at a time when no one took responsibility.” This was stated at the III National Meeting of the Network of Young Parliamentarians of Venezuela 2024 when recalling the events of February 4, 1992.

“Chávez arrived with a message that demonstrated his greatness as a human being. If we were at the time of February 4th, it is likely that those who were sitting there (as an audience) at our ages would have been us (...) those of my generation,” Cabello told the young people gathered at the meeting.

Cabello specified that “we were pure boys and we were sworn in at even the youngest academies. We started a war that ended for us in December of 98 when Chávez became president. Chávez fell in love with the People and the People fell in love with Chávez.”
