The deputy to the National Assembly (AN), Fernando Soto Rojas, stated that the Second National Popular Consultation is not an exclusive act of Chavism, but a day of democratization that involves all of Venezuela, since the projects selected benefit communities in general and respond to their direct needs.

The parliamentarian highlighted the influx of citizens since the early hours of the morning. “At 8 in the morning people were already voting; I think this is an act of democratization in the wake of all of Venezuela,” said Soto Rojas, who stressed that this dynamic allows the population to be consulted directly about their local requirements.

The legislator also highlighted the peculiarity of this mechanism in the international context. “This only happens in Venezuela; I don't know any part of the world, and I have traveled several continents,” he said, stressing that the process is supported by the Constitution.

Regarding the objective of the process, Soto Rojas indicated that the day is part of the refounding of the Republic. “It is framed within the Constitution in order to re-found the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” he said, while maintaining that, faced with the challenges of the 21st century, the country has Bolivarian doctrine as a theoretical and conceptual basis for facing the challenges.
