This Thursday, October 1st, the Deputy Minister for New Sources and Rational Use of Energy, Tania Masea, explained the current situation of the National Electricity System (SEN), a product of a long time in which maintenance work was very difficult since there was no access to spare parts and equipment.

“Also because of the financial availability to be able to purchase these spare parts,” he added during his participation in the “Albertencia” program, broadcast on Laiguana.tv.

He stressed the importance of the recovery plan for the national electricity sector, “we have the capacity to propose the plan because we have the experience and we know the system. We know what needs to be done in the system and we have workers ready to do that job.”

Masea said that this year “we have the opportunity to have original spare parts from companies and manufacturers, which will help us to strengthen and recover the system, of course, this takes a while, and there are spare parts that must be made to measure the National Electricity System”.

In addition, referring to the impact caused by the double earthquake of last June 24 on the country's electricity service, he indicated that there was a loss of 600 megawatts of Termocarabobo and its subsequent recovery.

“In the double earthquake, 600 megawatts of Termocarabobo that were already in operation fell (...) and 450 megawatts were recovered. 150 are in the process of being recovered (...) But what happened at that time? When such a large block of energy came out, what we call flickering began to happen, so we saw instability in the system because the energy balance is broken,” he explained.

The Deputy Minister noted that faced with this scenario there was a power injection process, but it was also necessary to incorporate reagents into the system to compensate for these blocks of energy imbalance.
