The 5th Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Johannyl Rodríguez Rivero, said at an assembly of communicators framed within the framework of the preparation of the Congress of the Historical Bloc that what cognitive war seeks is to attack culture to weaken the identity of Peoples.
“The cultural sector is where identity is deposited and here the new strategy of cognitive warfare, which is intended to undermine the action of the Peoples,” Rodríguez explained.
He said that with the coup d'état of 2002, for the first time, a media war began in the country, while after the elections of July 28, 2024, “the first cognitive attacks were inaugurated with the intention of being effective.”
He stressed that these new biases have to do with the characteristics of the digital era, whose main objective is to end the democratic system.
“For this purpose, they make use of social networks and they generate several statements to try to weaken the State, that is, what they call a confirmation bias, that we all accept relative truths. Why? Because two or three say that they have large followers on social networks and since they say it and not the State; as the influencers say it, this generates false information repeated several times to become true,” he said.
He pointed out that other strategies are bias towards authority, in order to eliminate the official voice to weaken the truth that they used to attack the country's democracy.
He urged the organization in the face of cognitive warfare, which is a real fact that has been methodologized since 2020.
“Let's be able to think of a mechanism to overcome the way in which the enemy is going to attack us,” he urged.
