The Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Banking, Insurance and Securities, Jimmy Berríos Ojeda, reported that the credit portfolio has experienced a year-on-year growth of almost 57%, reaching approximately 4 billion dollars and assured that this increase has allowed the leverage of the productive sectors of the Venezuelan economy.
During an interview with Venezolana de Televisión, it was noted that the delinquency rate currently stands at an average of 1.08%, which in his opinion evidences the fulfillment of contractual commitments by the beneficiaries of the loans.
He highlighted the position of banking institutions in the top 10 of the national banking ranking, highlighting the management of public institutions such as the Bank of Venezuela, the Treasury Bank and the Workers' Digital Bank, which maintains continuous work in supporting entrepreneurs and the different productive sectors of the country.
“The Bank of Venezuela, the first bank in the country without a doubt, is a demonstration that the Venezuelan State or a public company can manage and generate results in the country,” he said.
He also highlighted that “not only is the Bank of Venezuela in this top 10 of the national banking ranking system, but there is also the Workers' Digital Bank, which is continuously not only supporting entrepreneurs, but is also supporting the country's different productive sectors, and there is, of course, the Treasury Bank. The three public banks are part of what is the photograph of the national banking ranking, this one, generating and contributing their grain of sand to the country's growth.”
He explained that the stock market in Venezuela is undergoing a process of dynamization and continuous growth and stressed that it represents an alternative mechanism to traditional banking for productive sectors to obtain financing and raise funds in the country.
On the other hand, when addressing the figures for the insurance sector, he indicated that net premiums collected registered an increase of 18%, exceeding 871 million dollars.
“To this date, up to the month of August in all of this year 2026, cumulative net premiums collected are approximately 871 million dollars, that is, an increase of 18%, representing about 871 million dollars. The rate, let's say, of insured persons in the country is around 8%,” he said.
He stated that “there is a lot of effort in the insurance business, there is responsible oversight from the Superintendency of Insurance Activity, making sure that this growth is healthy and organic.”
