“At the next summit of the BRICS countries in Kazan from October 22 to 24, Venezuela will be present in its role as an observer country and candidate for membership, betting with enthusiasm and loyalty on that promising future, so similar to the one that Bolívar predicted and for which (Hugo) Chávez fought.”

With this intervention, the Deputy Minister for Europe, Coromoto Godoy Calderón, from the forum “Strategic Transcendence of the BRICS Study in the Current Geopolitical Situation” that took place in Caracas, affirmed that the upcoming summit of the alliance will be exceptional, as it will mark a new phase for the country, which has much to contribute to this block not only because of its natural resources but because of the greatness and resilience of the people.

“And there, at the BRICS summit in Russia, there will be Venezuela, with its president Nicolás Maduro, re-elected and entitled to speak on behalf of all of us and say that we do want to be part of that project and that we are ready for it,” he stressed.

In this context, the diplomat saw the victory of the head of state in the presidential elections of July 28 for Venezuela to join the BRICS, “to strengthen strategic cooperation with Russia, to continue to advance in the multipolar world and bring comprehensive cooperation to the country (...), to free us from the bonds of the oil rentier model.”

Godoy concluded his presentation, expressing his satisfaction that the forum coincided this July 4th with the start of the electoral campaign in the country, “because part of the victory is to guarantee the road to the BRICS”.
