The Unilateral Coercive Measures (MCU), applied by the United States government against Venezuela and their negative impact on the human, social and economic rights of Venezuelans, were recognized by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR).

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Anti-Blockade Policies of the Ministry of the People's Power of Economy and Finance, William Castillo, through his account on the social network X, in which he stressed that in its last report this body admitted in brief paragraphs that such measures must be “lifted”, as demanded at the time by the rapporteur of the United Nations (UN), Alena Douhan, who corroborated in 2021 the damage caused by such actions criminals, violating international law.

Castillo commented on two small paragraphs that were included in the IACHR's annual report, generally dedicated to attacking Venezuela.

In this regard, he stressed: “The fact that an organization that is absolutely hostile and biased against our country, an instrument to attack Venezuela, has had to recognize the impact of Unilateral Coercive Measures (MCU) is something that should make landlords think about sanctions, who continue to deny them.”

In the message, he said: “LAST MINUTE. Even the Inter-American Court asks to lift sanctions against Venezuela.”

Castillo pointed out that “the Venezuelan Anti-Blockade Observatory takes note of this fact in recognition of an inconcealable reality, and at the same time reaffirms that the Commission has a poor research and data work on human rights in Venezuela, and in particular, of the impacts on human rights produced by the illegal and criminal blockade.”
