The second vice-president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Grecia Colmenares, affirmed that the full re-entry of Venezuela to the World Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) constitutes a victory for Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy.
From Arusha, Tanzania, where the 153rd Assembly of the IPU is taking place, the parliamentarian indicated that the achievement also responds to the efforts of parliamentary diplomacy and the president of the Legislative Branch, Jorge Rodríguez, reviewed a press release from the AN.
Deputies Saúl Ortega and José Gregorio Correa, who also participated in the meeting, agreed on the importance of strengthening multilateral relations, promoting legislative cooperation and discussing geopolitical and economic challenges of common interest.
During the day, legislators highlighted the need to maintain spaces for debate to coordinate efforts for the benefit of the sovereignty and well-being of citizens. Ortega described the re-entry as a diplomatic victory of great significance, while Correa stressed the relevance of diversity of thought and consensus. “At this meeting, we demonstrated that, over and above political differences, there is a shared commitment to legislate responsibly and defend the well-being of our nation,” he said.
