The deputy to the National Assembly (AN), Liliana González, assured that the Judicial Nominations Committee carries out the work of debating, preparing and selecting magistrates in full compliance with the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
In an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he highlighted “the intellectual reserve and capacity of legal professionals and other branches who apply and participate there in this application.”
“I want to highlight that we achieved gender parity in the sectors of society: of the twelve representatives, seven are women and five are men. In addition, in this committee we have social communicators, disability sectors, a cardiologist who represents Afro-Venezuelans, historians, representatives of the Bar Association and a wide variety of professionals,” he explained.
In this regard, González stressed that the fundamental goals of the selection of magistrates respond to the people's request for greater transparency, a stronger judicial system and a more expeditious and rapid justice system.
“I think we can say that we have to continue working to improve the justice system, and this has been the mandate and request of President Delcy Rodríguez,” he added.
He recalled that the necessary requirements for applications include:
Being Venezuelan by birth.
Have a recognized ethical and moral solvency.
Enjoy proven mental health.
Hold a law degree and demonstrate a minimum of 15 years of experience in the practice of law or in the judicial system.
