In Argentina, the national deputy Marcela Pagano filed a criminal complaint against the neoliberal president Javier Milei following the Executive's decision to prevent accredited journalists from entering the Casa Rosada. The legislator based the judicial action by stressing the public nature of the seat of government.

The lawsuit also points to the Secretary of Communication and Media, Javier Lanari, and the head of the Military House, Sebastián Ignacio Ibáñez, as responsible. Pagano described the measure as “irreversible damage” to the republican system, arguing that this arbitrary prohibition constitutes a direct violation of freedom of expression and represents “the first step in silencing any dissenting voice” in the country.

For its part, the Executive Branch justified the restriction on the grounds of an alleged case of “illegal espionage” related to the leak of audiovisual material in local media. As a preventive measure, the authorities proceeded to disable the fingerprints of all press workers who serve in the presidential headquarters, effectively preventing their regular entry.

The deputy warned that the decision lacks legal administrative support and violates the professional practice of journalism. The complaint seeks justice to intervene to restore the rights of accredited persons, reaffirming that the control of information through physical blockades violates the basic principles of transparency that must govern all democratic management.
