The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, assured that the global challenge in terms of food is no longer just to produce more, but to do it more efficiently.

“We must produce better and more efficiently, we must reduce losses and waste, improve storage and transport. g guarantee access to food, protect our soils and waters, preserve biodiversity and build agri-food systems capable of withstanding the growing effects of the climate crisis,” he said during his speech at the World Food Forum 2026, held in Rome, Italy.

In this regard, he said that currently “a considerable proportion of the food we produce is lost after harvest or ends up being wasted”, while stating that this happens while millions of people lack food.

He specified that food is an inalienable right directly linked to the life, dignity and integral development of people and that to be guaranteed “it requires inclusive and sustained public policies, but it also requires production, investment, science, technology, financing and cooperation. R requires peace and requires a peaceful international system to cooperate even beyond our differences,”

Rodríguez thanked this organization and the World Food Program for the support they gave Venezuela during the toughest civic hours of June 24.
