The National Constituent Assembly (ANC) declared October 25, 2017 as the National Day of Feminist Socialism, commemorating the date when Commander Hugo Chávez declared himself a feminist and protector of Venezuelan women.

The constituent, at that time, María León said that the plenipotentiary body worked to create a chapter dedicated to women that will include, among other topics: the recognition of housewives as “workers of the country”, and the right of women to make decisions in the face of an unwanted pregnancy.

“First of all, as Chavista women, we received guidance from our president, Nicolás Maduro, to bring a chapter for women to the ANC. That is why we have consolidated this socialist and wonderful decree,” said León.

Seven years after this event, the Bolivarian Government maintains its commitment to the women of the Fatherland.
