Congresswoman Flores: The candidates of the PSUV and the GPPSB are the product of consulting the People

Venezuela's first female fighter and member of the National Assembly (AN), Cilia Flores de Maduro, pointed out that the most important thing about choosing the candidates of the revolutionary forces, “is that they are the product of consultation with the People, with the People's Power.”

“They have been nominated by the grassroots of Popular Power, polls, focus groups, consultations, so these candidates already come with legitimacy and besides, they don't come from scratch, they have already started working, because in the Revolution there is a campaign every day,” he emphasized.

The statement was made by Flores when referring to the news about the list of candidates of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and the Great Patriotic Pole Simon Bolivar (GPPSB), for the elections to the country's governorates, in the program Maduro Live De Repente, hosted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

For her part, the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, stressed that the news “is hot, above all we are very happy that there are five women candidates for governors, we currently have two, we are increasing to five.”

“It's about women participating in all areas. That was left to us by Commander Hugo Chávez and you, well, have ratified it, and there are more and more women in the Cabinet and in all public offices,” she said.

Meléndez considered the demand of women to be very important in all spheres, “we can say that we women are going forward”.
