The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) in Argentina announced this Thursday, March 20, a general strike and a mobilization before Congress against the adjustment policies of the Javier Milei government.
In this regard, in a review of the Telesur website, he points out that the main labor union in Argentina reported that this measure of force is called for a 24-hour general strike on April 10 and a mobilization to Congress the day before.
“The most important measure is a 36-hour union action, starting with mobilizations starting on the 9th at 12:00 noon, and then, starting at 00 on the 10th, a 24-hour strike,” said the co-secretary general of the General Confederation of Labor, Héctor Daer.
The CGT demanded freedom for wage negotiations between unions and employers in which the government intervenes, which are known as parity negotiations.
“To propose support, in addition to this increase, for the discussion that will take place in Congress on updating the bonus to retirees,” Daer said.
In the same way, the platform Tiempo Argentino noted that the Board of Directors met after eight months of inactivity and set the date for the third general strike that will take place eleven months after the previous measure of this nature carried out on May 9, 2024.
On the other hand, the protest in front of Congress will be in support of retirees and against the government's repression of these mobilizations.
In addition, the CGT will also mobilize this March 24, on the occasion of the National Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice against the last Argentine dictatorship (1976-1983) and which the government of Javier Milei has tried to erase.
“We repudiate the police repression of eight days ago,” remarked the co-secretary general.
