The nights in zone F on January 23 are usually marked, from Monday to Thursday, by a cold breeze and a deep silence that contrasts with the festive atmosphere that is experienced in that sector on weekends.
That calm, that silence, is what allows passers-by and drivers who circulate through this populous sector of Caracas to be surprised, every Wednesday night, by the voice of the Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diodado Cabello Rondón, who with his Mazo dismantles the lies of the right wing and its foreign masters.
From a small television installed in the “Todo Barato” kiosk, you can hear Con El Mazo Dando and, from time to time, the laughter of Yorman Araujo, who enjoys the jokes or anecdotes that are not lacking in this television space from his workplace.
“I don't miss out on Con El Mazo Dando. The section that I like the most is the billboard, but especially when it talks about the Showseros on the right,” Yorman said while dispatching candy and trying to listen to the program.
After delivering some chocolates, cookies and joking with a neighbor, this young man, appreciated by the community, continued: “It makes me laugh a lot, the nickname that amuses me the most is when (Diosdado Cabello) calls María Corina Machado La Sayo.”
While Yorman divided his attention to attend the kiosk and see Con El Mazo Dando, 11 kilometers from there, specifically in Los Castaños del Cementerio, Narkys Blanco enjoyed coffee and bread while trying to contain his laughter because of the “barbarities” that the cooperating patriot “Patricio the Maracucho” claims to eat.
This young journalist is a regular on the show, she says she sees it “so I don't have to do it for work. I don't miss it. I have a lot of fun with the billboard, when he reads the tweets (X posts) and combines them with the videos, that's my favorite part,” he said.
In addition to the pleasure of seeing Con El Mazo Dando, Narky and Yorman share the opinion that La Sayo is the nickname that makes them laugh the most.
Political line
Beyond making jocking political commentary a source of entertainment for Wednesday nights, for Jhondy Mancera, seeing Con El Mazo Dando is “a task” that he has taken on as a militant to obtain the “lines” to follow as an active part of the revolutionary process.
“I don't miss the Mazo, because beyond a space to meet as Chavistas, it's a window from which we can get the political line to work on during the week. You may not have read the news, but with El Mazo you stay informed,” said Mancera, from his office in Sabana Grande, while searching YouTube for the live broadcast of everyone's favorite program, even the opponents.
In addition, this sports professional does not hesitate to recognize that the new format of the “Digital Billboard” has been a great success since, in his opinion, it makes the program more fluid and fun.
“Without a doubt, the best part of the program is the Billboard and the videos of the Cara 'e Tabla. Nor can we forget the nickname La Sayo, it's the best nickname of all time,” he said.
Laughter and information
While Jhondy assumes it as a revolutionary (and above all fun) task to see Con El Mazo Dando, Harim Rodríguez ignores seriousness and indulges in the enjoyment of humor, while “I learn about the crazy things on the right”.
For this political analyst, the weekly program La Cartelera and its “Disturbed from the Right” section is the unmissable moment in space. “But what I like the most are the facts about Patricio El Maracucho and the stories about what he eats,” he highlighted as the volume of his television breaks the silence of the night in Guarenas.
“I like the show but I have to ask them to put the Local Time back on,” he exclaimed. Let's hope that the friend of the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace can evaluate this “plea” of a Mazo fan and, why not, please him.
