Complaints of domestic violence in Caracas have fallen by 67%

The head of government of the Capital District, Nahum Fernández, said that during his administration there has been a reduction in complaints of domestic violence, reaching a decrease of 67%.

During the presentation of his report and account from Ezequiel Zamora Park in Caracas, Fernández noted that his office has provided direct attention to more than 5 thousand cases of domestic violence, reaching homes to address the problem in a comprehensive manner.

In addition, he stressed that during his administration, emphasis has been placed on providing comprehensive care, guaranteeing their food, health and education, to 144 young orphans, of whom 128 have already graduated as productive high school graduates.

With regard to care for older adults, work has been done on the creation of 5 new shelters, totaling 225 in the capital city, in order to provide them with the care and attention they deserve.

The commitment to the community is also reflected in working together with State institutions related to housing issues, with the objective of supporting Caracas families in shaping and improving their homes.

In this regard, he noted that concrete actions have been carried out, such as the waterproofing of 148 buildings and, currently, a special plan is being developed to waterproof the roof of 21 buildings in Casalta 1, as well as the rehabilitation of elevators in various areas of the city.

In addition, Fernández noted that his office has provided technical assistance for the elections of spokespersons for Community Councils, evidencing the commitment to citizen participation and the strengthening of democracy at the local level.
