On October 11, 2011, from the Miraflores Palace, the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, urged the United Nations (UN) to recognize the State Palestinian.

“Right now what moves us is the issue at the United Nations, the recognition of the Palestinian State as a State, well it's a State,” he said.

He also stressed that by 2011 the Palestinian state was 63 years old “enduring abuses, invasions, bombings, aggressions, United Nations resolutions; they have an ambassador here for several years, they have an embassy, we have an embassy there in Palestine, only that Israel does not allow our ambassador to enter because what they have on him is a blockade the Palestinians”.

Likewise, Chávez added that, within the framework of the cooperation, a group of Palestinian students are receiving scholarships at the Salvador Allende Latin American School of Medicine “there and in other areas and today we are going to talk to continue bringing young Palestinians to study in Venezuela, especially technical education, university education, health, science, technology, in the economic sphere.”

The Bolivarian leader added that they must return the lands of the West Bank, “all those of Gaza, East Jerusalem as its capital, that is, the 1967 border, which is the resolution of the United Nations; but the United States, the empire, prevents them from being fulfilled, but today we are going to talk about continuing to work on the social issue, the social missions for Palestine.”
