On December 12, 2008, from the Caracas Polyhedron, the Supreme Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Commander Hugo Chávez, called on Venezuelan youth to assume their historic role and not allow themselves to be robbed the future.
“Boys, girls, you have to increasingly assume your role, the youth of students organized, united, promoting and planting (...) open the doors of the history of the future and build it because it belongs to you (...) don't let yourself be robbed of the future,” said the Commander.
In that sense, he recalled that his generation had been robbed of the future; so he assured the “boys and girls”, who are my sons and daughters of life, that I will do everything possible to prevent you from being robbed of your future. As much as I can, as much as we can,” he emphasized.
