IN HIS HOMAGE, HE PLANTED A STEM OF THE LEGENDARY TREE.

• Twenty-one days after leaving the San Francisco de Yare Prison, Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías ratified his oath before the legendary tree, Samán de Güere, under whose shade Simon Bolivar camped several times with the Liberation Army, during the advance of the Admirable Campaign to Caracas (February - August 1813).
• From 9:45am, accompanied by a large crowd of supporters of the Bolivarian Movement, the Commander arrived at the monument of old Samán to sing the National Anthem.
• Then, he raised his hand and, together with all those present there, solemnly ratified his oath, recalling the one he took with his comrades in arms at the first opportunity: “It was December 17, 1991, when three running companions were jogging from San Jacinto to Samán de Güere, one of them was Captain (EJ) Jesús Urdaneta Hernández, who took Maracay militarily during the events of 4F and the oath goes like this: Under these historic branches and this incandescent sun, I swear by the God of my parents, I swear by my honor and by My Homeland, do not rest my soul until I break with the chains that keep the people enslaved in a situation of helplessness and submission, I swear by this I swear to fight for Venezuela”.
• Then Commander Chávez proceeded to plant a small saman for which Father Jesús Armando, pastor of Güere, proceeded to bless the place.
• Chávez then declared in front of the assembled press:
• “The fight of the MBR-200 is to tear down the corruption of the Venezuelan democratic system, the perspective is to extend this sense of conscience at the national level and that the strength of noble people with moral principles is to rescue the country from the politicians and economic groups that have traditionally bled Venezuela to death, with this we hope that this reality will be given through democratic channels to form a great national front with young people, housewives, soldiers, journalists and anyone who wants to live in a better Venezuela.”
• Chávez renewed his oath for the recovery of Venezuela and his mission to restore its violated dignity to his homeland. He proudly displayed the scapular of his grandfather, the legendary anti-gomecist guerrilla fighter Pedro Pérez Delgado “Maisanta”, the last warrior on horseback, as a symbol of the continuity of his legacy, this time with the weapons of the word and the artillery of thought, as expressed by Simon Bolivar when referring to the press.
