Commander Chávez: Popular Power is fundamental to the construction of the Homeland

On January 13, 2007 , the Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez Frías, highlighted the importance of Popular Power for construction of the Fatherland and our socialism.

“Popular power, they don't understand that; or they didn't want to see it, that's where we're going, communal cities, communal territories, where popular power is the fundamental power, the protagonist in the construction of their way of life (...), the path, the construction of our Socialism”, said the Commander from the National Assembly.

In that sense, he recalled that the Father of the Fatherland, Simon Bolivar, and the teacher Simon Rodriguez, were defenders and always emphasized the importance of giving Power to the People.

“He talks about cooperation. Of houses, places, toparchy, confederation. It's Popular Power, it's the Communal Councils (...) We must give more to Venezuela every day (...) 'An eminently popular, eminently just, eminently moral government that chains oppression, anarchy and guilt. A government that will make equality and freedom triumph under the rule of inexorable laws, '” said Chávez, recalling the words of El Libertado r.
