On May 29, 2007, from Naiguatá, La Guaira state, the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, took an oath for the defense and dignity of the Venezuelan people.
“I swear to God, that I will give my life in defense of the dignity of the Venezuelan people and the dignity of my country. I don't care about the rest, what they say doesn't matter to me, it doesn't just matter to me, only those who at this very moment are in the shadows cheering, trying to set fire to the meadow,” he said.
Faced with death threats against him, the Bolivarian leader said: “I am willing to die for my country. Are you willing? I ask them... No, I ask them, I ask them, I know that you are, we are here: Fatherland or death! Now, we will have to ask them if they are willing or when they start... if they succeed, if they can bring the country into chaos as they did in 2002.”
“We cannot accept a State, a People, a Republic cannot accept that under their own noses they are calling to ignore the laws, to ignore the authorities and to kill, most seriously of all to kill the President of the Republic in order to generate chaos in the country; that cannot be allowed, the national State, the institutions are obliged to act, not to cross their arms, that everyone, then, measures their actions and assumes their responsibilities,” he stressed .
