On June 9, 2002, during the broadcast of the program Aló Presidente, number 107, Commander Hugo Chávez spoke about corruption, which has spread across the continent and not only has to do with the public sector of the nation.

“The corruption that has eaten away at the spine of the continent has to do not only with the public sector but with this procedure, this procedure that was installed in many of the countries of Latin America, through which the privileged sectors of society they appropriated political power indirectly,” said the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution.

In this regard, he recalled that “here they tried to do it directly - with the fugitive Carmona - they tried to get directly into power but they always had power behind the scenes, they had deputies, they paid them, they had bought presidents whom they supported in their electoral campaigns, a lot of money involved, juicy businesses and then the case was right here, in America Latina and Venezuela”.

Hugo Chávez recalled how the privileged sectors of society were those who made laws “through law firms, specialized firms to which they paid a lot of money and drafted laws outside the Assembly or Congress. old and they had them already prepared: Here is such a law, well, the deputies of the dominant parties from always until 98 did not discuss that”.

“When this servant commanded a military rebellion, the first thing I did was: 'I assume responsibility to you and to the world for this Bolivarian military movement', I said 10 years ago, four months or so. And I put my hands: 'Prison'. And we did it, all of us who at that time rebelled in totally different situations, of course. And radically contrary to what happened last April,” said Hugo Chávez.
