From Fort Mara, in the state of Zulia, during the program Aló Presidente #188, Commander Hugo Chávez called for the unity of all military components in defense of the peace of the Fatherland, two years after the coup d'etat of April 11, 2002, known as El Carmonazo.

In his speech, the Supreme Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution criticized the participation of representatives of the Catholic Church in the country in the conspiratorial actions that were ultimately frustrated by the mobilization of the people in the street.

“From here, we respond to those adecos and Copeyans who wear or wear cassock, and dress or dress as bishops, but instead of bishops they have been politicians and lived under the protection of the corrupt power of 50 years and were silent,” said Commander Chávez.

He emphasized that two years after the coup, “how much has changed in Venezuela; there is something I want to insist on from Fuerte Mara, to make us even stronger, the military inside, the Army, the Navy, the Aviation, the National Guard, all united.”
