Last Wednesday, the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, officially denounced the beginning of a soft coup against his political figure, from the National Electoral Council (CNE).

This occurs, after the press confirmed that magistrates Álvaro Hernán Prada and Benjamín Ortiz will officially present the formulation and indictment paper to the National Electoral Council (CNE) against Petro's electoral campaign.

The far-right magazine Semana cited a “high fidelity” source for the CNE, explaining that “the bulk of the evidence lies in the money it provided to the FECODE campaign, the USO and the 35,000 electoral witnesses who were paid 60,000 pesos on election day.”

Faced with these alleged accusations, President Petro wrote on the social network X that the formulation by CNE represents “arbitrariness”. He also said that these accusations constitute an “open constitutional rupture”.
