Colombia: President Petro Denounced Military Arms Trafficking Network

Last Tuesday, the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, denounced the existence of an illegal arms trafficking network after an inspection in Tolemaida and La Guajira where more than a million ammunition, explosives and weapons from the lost Military Forces were found.

“It was detected that there are more than one million ammunition, explosives, grenades and weapons lost, after inspections were carried out within the Public Forces, on February 12 in Tolemaida and on April 1 in La Guajira,” said the president.

In addition, Petro added that “networks have existed for a long time - made up of people from the military and civilian forces dedicated to a massive arms trade, using the legal weapons of the Colombian State (...)”.
