Last Tuesday, the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, reaffirmed his government's fight against impunity and corruption in the face of the irregularities found by his administration around the State.

President Petro stated that since his arrival to the presidency of the South American country, he has encountered structural and professionalized corruption that has taken over several institutions of the Colombian State, under the protection of conservative right-wing governments.

In addition, the head of state denounced the existence of a corruption network set up for three decades between political leaders, the public security forces, officials of the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN).
