Colombia made its return to UNASUR official

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Colombia announced the official return to the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR).

“Responding to President Gustavo Petro's call for regional unity and the strengthening of collaborative ties in South America, Colombia returns to UNASUR, after five years of absence,” the statement said.

According to information provided by the foreign ministry of the South American country, at the first meeting of the Council of Delegates and Delegates, which took place this Tuesday, Colombia reaffirmed its will in this new phase of active participation in the regional integration process. During the meeting, the countries exchanged views on the future path within the framework of the region's integration mechanism.

It should be noted that the Treaty establishing UNASUR was signed on May 23, 2008 during the third Summit of the Council of Heads of State and Government held in Brasília, Brazil. Officially Establishing the Bloc as an Intergovernmental Union of Twelve South American States
