The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) of Colombia formally convened six former members of the former Secretariat of the extinct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) to a public hearing to recognize responsibility for the recruitment and use of children and adolescents, as well as for related crimes committed during the armed conflict.

The transitional justice court indicated that the trial will take place on April 7, 8 and 9, 2027 within the framework of Case 07, which investigates systematic patterns of criminality that include ill-treatment, torture, homicide and sexual assault against underage victims.

In this regard, the judicial body detailed the scope of the call, stating: “Six former members of the last Secretariat of the extinct FARC were summoned by the JEP to a public hearing to recognize the recruitment and use of girls and boys and for the related violence committed against them within the ranks.”

In addition, the judicial process includes separate sessions to examine cases of sexual and reproductive violence at the request of those affected, constituting a fundamental preliminary step before the Court for Peace determines the corresponding sanctions and restrictions on freedom.
