The National Theater Company (CNT) addressed the legacy of Venezuelan playwright Román Chalbaud in the Latin American Chair of Transteatrology at the Universidad Veracruzana de México, through a virtual conference given by researcher Yaritza Medina López.
The Research Coordinator of the CNT presented the paper “The Theater of Román Chalbaud in us”, directed by Mexican professor and researcher Domingo Adame, in which she analyzed the playwright's poetics and his link with the realities, needs and strengths of Latin American society.
The chair, attached to the Faculty of Theater of the Universidad Veracruzana, emerged from a seminar on the Theater System given by Adame during the International Festival of Progressive Theater in Venezuela, with the purpose of studying the continent's scene and its international projection.
The conference highlighted the validity of Chalbaud's work and its contribution to universal theater, in the context of the commemoration of the 95th anniversary of his birth.
Medina López has a degree in Arts, with a mention in Performing Arts, from the Central University of Venezuela. For eight years he has coordinated the areas of publications, documentation, awards, competitions and research at the CNT.
