The National Electoral Council (CNE) plans to install points in tourist areas during Holy Week so that visitors can register or update their Permanent Electoral Register (REP) data.

This was reported by the president of the Comitorial Entity, Elvis Amoroso, who explained that this action seeks to promote popular participation in the upcoming elections on July 28.

“It has been proposed that during the Holy Week days, machines should be installed on well-known beaches, national parks or in the Waraira Repano, where many Venezuelans go, so that they have the opportunity to change their residence or register with the REP,” he said.

In this regard, during the nomination ceremony for the presidential candidate of Nicolás Maduro by the ORA and UPV parties, Amoroso urged all political parties in the country to call on their members to register or update data from the REP.

It is important to remember that from March 18 to April 16, a special day of registration and/or updating of the Electoral Register will take place throughout the country, in accordance with the schedule approved by the CNE board of directors for the presidential elections on July 28.

In the Regional Offices of the Electoral Power, as reported by the newspaper Última Noticias, Permanent Points for Registration and/or Updating the Electoral Register are available, which operate from 8:30am to 3:30pm, where registrations of new voters can be processed, as well as changes of voting centers, with the sole requirement of presenting the identity card even if it has expired, according to a press release from the CNE.
