Representatives of the National Electoral Council (CNE), the Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America (CELAC) and the Observatory of Strategic Thinking for Regional Integration (OPEIR) signed a memorandum of understanding regarding their support and advice for the conduct of the presidential elections on July 28.
The document, which will govern the international oversight process, was signed by the president of the CNE, Elvis Amoroso; by CELAC, Nicanor Moscoso ; by the OPEIR, Carlos López.
During the signing of the above-mentioned document, Moscoso, president of CELAC, highlighted the transparency and reliability of our electoral system, while highlighting all the support received by the different political organizations and the CNE during their visits to participate in the elections held in the country.
He explained that the Venezuelan electoral process is one of the most advanced in the region, while stressing that, around these latitudes, only Venezuela and Brazil have automated voting systems. “At CELAC, we say that Venezuela has the best electoral system in Latin America.
“We see from the outside how the electoral process in Venezuela is no longer being questioned, the electronic machine or fraud is no longer being talked about. Now we only talk about the political side, which corresponds to the parties and has nothing to do with the CNE. We see how every day the voting system in this country, which has great transparency, is less questioned,” he stressed.
On the other hand, he noted that after the elections of July 28, they will submit, to the CNE, a report on the details that they were able to observe. In this regard, he stressed that the said text will not be confidential, so that any Venezuelan can have access to it.
Meanwhile, Carlos López welcomed the fact that in our country, large sectors of the opposition decided to participate in the presidential elections, which, in his opinion, will contribute to strengthening democracy in the country.
“We celebrate this transparency of the electoral system, I know that the CNE is solid and is respected by all institutions. We advocate that the Venezuelan people show up on July 28 and vote, that is valuing democracy,” he stressed.
In the same way, the president of the CNE, Elvis Amoroso, reiterated all the work that is being carried out from his office to offer all political factions the necessary guarantees for the electoral process.
“The CNE has made an effort to fully comply with current legal regulations in Venezuela,” he stressed while stressing that international oversight will serve to attest to all this work.
