CNAC celebrated its 32nd anniversary with the screening of “Easter Sunday”

The National Autonomous Cinematography Center (CNAC) presented a special feature of Easter Sunday, a film directed by César Bolívar and originally released in 1982, as part of the activities for the institution's 32nd anniversary.
According to information from Venezolana de Televisión, the film was screened in restored digital format in Room 5 of Cinepic, at Sambil La Candelaria, before artists, producers, distributors and filmmakers.
The president of the CNAC, Román Chamorro, reported that the film is the second of a group of 15 works selected for a restoration and digitization project developed together with the National Cinemateca Foundation and Bolívar Films.
He recalled that the plan began with the recovery of The Fish That Smokes, by Román Chalbaud, and envisages that restored films return to commercial theaters starting in 2027, with programming aimed especially at the new generations.
Chamorro also noted that the CNAC is holding talks with César Bolívar's family members to specify a possible re-release of the film and evaluate the making of a second part, entitled Resurrection Sunday 2.
