Claudia Sheinbaum sworn in as Mexico's first president

This Tuesday, October 1, Claudia Sheinbaum took office before the Mexican Congress as the first president of the Aztec nation, in succession to leader Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The new head of state received the presidential band from the hands of the deputy Ifigenia Martínez and López Obrador, who said goodbye to this position amid the ovation of those present.

“I want to thank the most important president in political history and the best president of Mexico, the one who initiated the peaceful revolution of the Fourth Transformation in the history of Mexico, history has evaluated it,” Sheinbaum said in his inauguration speech.

The president urged the Mexican people to continue the fight to strengthen all the social achievements that had an impact in the last six years and stressed that the advances in the outgoing management were achieved thanks to the change in the political model that allowed the transformation of the country, while assuring that the legacy of López Obrador, who was charged with “Mexican humanism”, will continue, towards the Fourth Transformation.
