A Civil Protection team was deployed in the Cumanacoa parish, in the Montes municipality of Sucre state, to deal with the damage caused by the recent rains caused by the overflow of the Agua Blanca river in the El Yaque sector.

The regional director of Civil Protection, Edward Vivas, reported that the increase in the flow of the Agua Blanca river caused the flooding of two houses without material losses in the El Terreno sector and the fall of an electrical pole in the Naranjal sector.

In this regard, Vivas highlighted that an operational deployment was activated with teams from Civil Protection, Firefighters, the National Electric Corporation (CORPOELEC) and brigades from public institutions to provide immediate support to affected communities.

He also added that officials from various public institutions carry out evaluations of other rivers in the region to prevent possible damage to other areas.

He stated that atmospheric monitoring is being carried out due to the presence of partial to fragmented cloud cover and possible precipitation with electric shocks in the territory.

Vivas called on the population of Cumanacoa to remain calm in the face of these events, after assuring that risk management teams and the regional government remain alert to meet the needs of citizens.
