The National Cinematheque will screen three films by Chilean documentary filmmaker Patricio Guzmán in a special series that will take place from October 9 to 11 at the Cinemateca Hall of the Museum of Fine Arts, in homage to the filmmaker, who died last September 15 in Paris, France.

The program will begin this Friday at 4:30 in the afternoon with “My Jules Verne”, a work that addresses the relationship between Chile, exploration and imagination through the legacy of the science fiction writer.

On Saturday 10, at 4:00 in the afternoon, “Nostalgia for Light” will be screened, a documentary that links astronomical observation in the Atacama Desert with the search for those who disappeared during the Chilean dictatorship.

The cycle will close on Sunday the 11th, at 3:00 in the afternoon, with “The Mother of Pearl Button”, a film that traces the history of indigenous peoples and political violence in Chile through the relationship with water and the ocean.

The three films show different facets of Guzmán's work and his way of relating landscape to historical memory.

In this regard, the Cinemateca extended the invitation to this series in honor of Guzmán to students and documentary film fans interested in learning about or rediscovering their filmography on the big screen.
