The People's Republic of China will grant the least developed countries, with which it has diplomatic relations, a zero-tariff deal for 100 percent of the tariff lines. The announcement was made by Chinese President Xi Jinping who added that the list includes 33 African countries.
In this way, China will voluntarily and unilaterally open its market more widely. Cited by international media, the Head of State of the Asian giant stated that he will expand access to its market for African agricultural products and will deepen cooperation with Africa in e-commerce and other areas. “We are going to build a digital technology cooperation center with Africa and 20 digital demonstration projects are starting,” he added.
These measures make China the first major developing country and the first major economy to take this step and provide opportunities for Africa.
