This Thursday, China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Geng Shuang, called for reducing tensions in the Red Sea.

In this regard, he noted that the situation has claimed the lives of innocent people and assured that China called on the Houthis to respect international trade law so that all countries can sail in the waters of the sea and immediately cease their attacks.

He also stressed that China urged the parties involved to act with restraint and immediately refrain from actions that could exacerbate tensions.

According to the Xinhua website, China called on the international community to increase its investment in humanitarian and development efforts in Yemen, and expects the resumption of World Food Programme's humanitarian operations in the north of the country as soon as possible.
