In the “Master José Antonio Abreu” Private Educational Unit, located in the Libertador municipality of the state of Aragua, the Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology (Fundacite) developed a series of training workshops: “Discovering the Wonderful World of Chemistry” and “Introduction to Robotics”.
These activities are part of the National Scientific Seedbeds Program, promoted by the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology (MINCYT), to promote interest in science and technology among young people from an early age.
The day, according to a MINCYT press release, was attended by students from other educational institutions, including the U.E.N “Simón Bolívar”, U.E.N “Trino Celis Ríos” and the U.E.N. “Cacique Charaima”, reflecting a joint effort to strengthen scientific education in the region
The training began with the biology teacher, Genesis Pimentel, who carried out practical experiments on atmospheric pressure and water densities, where students participated in activities such as “the balloon that doesn't explode”, endothermic reactions and created a foam volcano using the Caravan Chemistry Kit, developed by the National Center for Chemical Technology (CNTQ).
Later, basic concepts of microscopy were introduced, where students observed plant cells and learned about their structure; an electronic magnifying glass was also used to examine insects such as the cigar and the centipede in detail
On the other hand, engineer Astrid Durán explained the fundamentals of electronics, including the flow and control of electrons, as well as the basic components of a circuit
With the purpose of awakening interest in creative and educational robotics among young participants, the TSU in Computer Science, Omar Rivas, presented students with concepts about what a robot is, its history and the various applications in the educational field.
