On November 23, 2010, the Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez Frías, called for unity in the face of the threats of North American imperialism against the world's free peoples and sovereign homelands.
“I repeat with Noam Chomsky, the American State is a failed state that acts beyond international laws, respects absolutely nothing and also feels entitled to do so, this is the great threat, the greatest threat that the planet is experiencing today, the Yankee empire, without a doubt, has entered a phase of political, economic and above all ethical decline (...) to this, the most powerful empire in the history of the Earth, in a threat much greater for our peoples, what do we have left? It has already been said, unity, unity and more unity,” said the Commander from the Legislative Palace.
He also pointed out that imperialism could not be allowed to continue to finance counterrevolutionaries to harm the people and destabilize the country.
“I implore that a very strict law be made to prevent this. That must be the way in which we must respond to imperial aggression, to the imperial threat, by radicalizing positions, loosening absolutely nothing, adjusting positions, consolidating the pace, consolidating revolutionary unity. There should be no room in our civil or military ranks for half-measures, no, a single line, radicalize the Revolution and this must be felt by this rude stateless bourgeoisie (...) the Venezuelan bourgeoisie must know that aggression against the people will cost them dearly”, he emphasized.
