From Moscow, capital of the Russian Federation, on October 15, 2010, the Supreme Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Commander Hugo Chávez, described the existing internal contradictions in Latin America driven by North American imperialism.
In an interview for Russia Today (RT), with journalist Elena Rostova, Commander Chávez recalled that for a long time the region was seen as the backyard of the United States, a country that “took care of everything the twentieth century and even before (...) of eliminating, of nipping in the bud or upside down all governments, or almost all governments, that came out or that emerged with another approach, that of independence”
In this regard, he recalled the invasions of Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, “coups d'etat in Venezuela several times, in Argentina, in Brazil, in Ecuador, in Bolivia, there was no coup d'etat in Latin America in 150 years where the hand of the North American empire was not involved”.
Chávez pointed out that, in addition, “the empire took care to sow lackeys in each country, the elites, to form the elites, what we call the Pitiyanquis, so that is one of the great contradictions, a continent that has the will to change its economic model”.
