On December 14, 2007, from Fort Tiuna, Commander Hugo Chávez called for national union and assured that it would be in the best interest of the Venezuelan opposition to have many parties and not one united one.
In that sense, he explained that for the right, “the more games there are, the better. The party here, the party there, the party beyond, the Acullá party, etc. That's when my once united consciousness skyrocketed.”
He also pledged to fight for the force of unity, “unity must be our currency, and above all to confront the North American empire and the pro-imperialist Venezuelan elite that will not rest, will not rest.”
